No SSD TRIM support in Mac OS X 10.6.7

Are you’re still waiting for SSD TRIM support in Mac OS X? Well, it won’t come in OS X 10.6.7. Here’s some output of my 2nd generation MacBook Air Serial-ATA System Profiler page:

APPLE SSD TS128C:

As there’s no TRIM support for Apple’s own SSD technology obviously there won’t be support for it for my Intel SSD in my Hackintosh rig. But just to make sure:

    First of all, your 2nd Generation MacBook Air doesn’t have OSX 10.6.7 installed. The latest non-beta release is 10.6.6.

    Second, the fact that System Profiler acknowledges the existence of TRIM to begin with actually bodes well for added support within the lifetime of Snow Leopard (aka between now and the release of Lion).

    Why else mention it at all in System Profiler?

    Actually, my Macs have the latest 10.6.7 beta installed. So please don’t try to tell me what software is running on my computers, o.k.?

    If you’re only running a beta, how can you know what the final release will have?

    Disk drivers are not an area of focus for this release and a feature like TRIM is highly unlikely not to go through a beta cycle (and mind you, we had 4 betas as of yesterday).

    In the first developer release of Lion, there showed support for TRIM.

    If you are using the SSD to just run your OS and Applications then use another drive to save all the files to, you should be good to go, because you are just reading the drive and not writing.

    The new MBP has TRIM support for Apple SSD even in 10.6.6. It’s the only exception to the rule that TRIM is not supported in Snow Leopard. See, Max? Some things don’t change in betas.

    However, you could hacktivate TRIM for any SSD in 10.6.7, see here for details:
