Stunning OS X Lion boot times on an ASUS P6T Hackintosh

Mac OS X Lion boot performance has been optimized and shows off some ridiculous boot times if booting from an SSD. Here’s a video of an ASUS P6T based Hackintosh booting OS X Lion.

Inspired by MacRumors post about the new 27-inch BTO iMac being the fastest Mac ever, here’s the same with an ASUS P6T based Hackintosh, obviously it uses an SSD too just like the iMac shown in the video. The ASUS P6T rig is 2 years old and uses a Lynnfield Core i7 CPU (4 cores), so no fancy Sandy Bridge there.

Both videos were taken with an iPhone and no modifications were made, it’s straight from the iPhone’s camera.

Pretty sick, isn’t it?

  2. Thanks for the info worked great, also whilst i’m taking advantage of your kindness could you let post a link to get the kexts I need for lion on my P6T or you could email them if you prefer.
    Thanks again Gav
    Keep up the good work!!

  4. Hi thats awesome unbelivably quick, do u mind if i pick your brain when my P6T boots I have a 24″ monitor at first the apple boot screen dose not fill the monitor then when the lion boot screen takes over it dose the graphics card is nvidia gtx460 and work on lion OTB I was wondering if there is a way to make the first part of the boot screen fill the monitor like yours on the vid as it looks like your monitor is 24″ ish
    Thanks Gav

  5. Nick, I’m afraid, I have no idea. Thats weird indeed! All I can come up with is to delete all the plists in /Library/Preferences/Audio and ~/Library/Preferences/Audio and to restart the Hack afterwards.

  6. Hey Jan, I’m experiencing a weird problem. I downloaded and installed the kext you linked me to and I also changed the settings for my sound to Line Out.

Now when I click on the sound effects (in the same menu) I hear the effect and when I receive a mail the sound plays through my boxes, but when I play a video or a mp3 I don’t hear anything at all.

When I plug in my headphones at the front panel of my case I hear the music I should hear.

Any idea what the problem might be?

    Cheers, Nick

  7. Oh and one more thing: after installing the kext an rebooting, the output device may be set to headphones by default. You may want to change that to line-out if you use speakers.

  8. Hey I have an asus p6t too. Yesterday I upgraded to lion and everything but the sound is working like a charm. What did you do to make this work? Any special kexts?
